In full: "I got your letter Am always glad to hear from you - Write often - Roy-You know Miss Isbell the Lady Press Agent with the Show - Well the girl has worked hard - and got lots of good notices for the show - But her lungs are weak - and I am sending her out to that country for her health - She will be at TE for two weeks and I want you to look after her - give her the best gentle horse you have - take her riding shooting fishing driving - walking - if you need help send for Davis let the cattle go - or any other work and take good care to give her a good time - if the Evenings are cold keep a fire in the fireplace - Mr Martins daughter will be with her take good care of both - get them their horses when ever they want to ride shoot with them clean their guns look out for them Roy". Mr. Martin is probably John T. Martin of the Cheyenne Carriage and Burro Company. Davis was Cody's guide. With: BESSE ISBELL. To Roy Myers, Triple E Ranch, Isherwood, Wyoming (with original envelope). In part: "Will send you a set of the pictures I took, in about a week. Have only had one set so far and of course gave those to the Col. He is a perfect friend for pictures of the Basin. Have a new Kodak and if I get out there this winter will get some better pictures. You know the other one did not work very well. Say, I hear you killed an elk. Dont you feel pretty proud of yourself...." William Frederick Cody (1846-1917) was a rider for the Pony Express in 1860, a scout for the Kansas Cavalry against the Indians (1863) and served in the U.S. Army in the Civil War (1863-1865). From 1867-1868, he furnished buffalo meat for the Union Pacific Railroad construction crews, earning his nickname, "Buffalo Bill". Cody was a scout for the 5th U.S. Cavalry from 1868-1872 and in 1876. From 1872-1883, he was on stage as an actor at first in E.Z.C. Judson's play, Scouts of the Plains. He organized Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in 1883 and toured the United States and Europe successfully for over 30 years. Both letters in fine condition. Three items.
