Description: Victor Coffee Mug nice vintage condition - no chips, cracks, or utensil marks ~ on the bottom there is what appears to be a crack, but it is actually just the way the clay dried, as it is under the glaze chunky & heavy made in New York, USA diner/restaurantware rounded edges comfortably holds 5 oz the iconic American diner coffee mug vintage A maker of insulators for telegraph lines, Victor expanded into tableware in the 1940's during WWII, including for the U.S. Navy. Heavy & less prone to sliding and breaking, they were ideal for shipboard use. After the war, they were marketed to diners, as the superior construction was not only durable, but also kept food & beverages hot. Handles were created separately & applied by hand. Each worker had their own stamp to impress into the clay, with each person's stamp having a very slight variation. With pressure from Chinese knockoffs, they began adding a "Made in USA" stamp around 1984. Tableware production ceased a few years later (circa 1987) and is becoming increasingly difficult to find - most people who have Victor pieces are not letting them go! I do my best to fully & honestly describe all items. Please also review photos, as they are considered part of the description. All items are carefully packed to ensure safe delivery. I do re-use shipping material when possible, to lessen environmental impact & costs.
