Description: TOTCO Flash-Tronic Model BL-PS Dynamo-Powered Flash, Patented 1941 Flash-Tronic Model BL-PS battery-less flash. The flash uses a spring-loaded dynamo to provide the electrical power to fire the flash. This replaces dry-cell batteries which are prone to failure. The design was patented in 1941 under the patent number 2,261,073. Text and drawings are available at https://patents.google.com/patent/US2261073A/en?oq=US+2261073. The flash was produced by the company Totco of Los Angeles. Serial number P5068.The first image shows the most important components of the device: the large knob at the bottom tensions the spring, the release is above it underneath the socket. The socket accepts a full size flash lamp (same size as a regular light bulb).I don't have a full size flash bulb, so I used a smaller size flash bulb with a make-shift adapter to test the device. It worked on the first try.The flash comes with a 5 inch diameter reflector (looks good, but may not be original) and a Photoflood light bulb (looks good, but not a flash bulb). Buyer to pay actual USPS shipping cost (no handling fee). Estimated shipping weight is 3 pounds. I would be happy to combine several items in one shipment to reduce your shipping costs. Happy bidding!
