Absolutely one of the best, if not the best film of 2016! Yes, I know Hanks seems to win every Oscar he is nominated for- but for a good reason- he's a great actor. This is the first movie after he announced to the world that he would be more selective in his movie selections because he was getting older and not able to do everything he could 15 yrs ago. Well- this movie shows he still has it! Anyway- if you aren't aware of the story- and as you can see on the DVD cover- it's a story about a plane running into trouble and being forced to land on the Hudson River just after taking off from JFK Airport. I'm not a but Clint Eastwood fan- but I think he captured something in about the beginning of the events of the day. This film is about an event that happened in January 2009- just over 7 years after the attacks on 9/11. Just imagine working in a New York office tower- and like 7 years before you suddenly heard the rumbling of jet engines- and you see a jet go by your office window- That one scene alone made me love the movie, Eastwood was able to capture the look of horror in faces. Imagine the PTSD these people in the office towers went through- not to mention the passengers who really didn't know what was happening. This is a must have for a lot of reasons- besides Hanks/Eastwood- it's a great movie. It's also true- based on a book by someone named Chesley Sullenberger- better known to his friends as "SULLY". Honestly, it would be a great movie to set down and watch with your teenage kids- and try to explain the insanity of the time.
