Description: Pair Of 1800’s Delft Onion Garlic Vase Lamps By Gagneau Of France. Two matching blue and white Delft vases with bulbous body and elongated neck. Decorated with stiff leaves, scrolling vines, flowers and perched songbirds. White tin glaze with cobalt blue decorations. Octagonal base with added bronze mount. Approximately 19” high to top of oil lamp. 21 3/4” high to top of electric bulb socket. Base 6 1/2” wide x 6 1/2” and 6 1/2” diameter at large bulbous body. Vases from 1700’s. Converted first to oil lamps by brothers Edouard and Francois Gagneau founded in Paris 1839. Shield engraved Gagneau with address and again Gagneau above on burner collar. Later converted to electric then upgraded to cord with neutral polarized plug. No shades or harps. Lamps only. Some age related wear and defects to glaze when made, all very minor. One lamp is missing the fuel control knob.
