Description: This is an interesting, antique edition of Kipling's Works, Vol. IV, "Soldiers Three and Other Stories," published ca. 1909 by P. F. Collier & Son in New York. The book features beautiful photogravure and mezzogravure illustrations by John Andrew & Son based on originals by Reginald Bolles. The Sahib edition of Kipling's Works are distinguishable in part by the use of swastikas, which originated in Asian cultures as a symbol of good luck, on the spine and interior. This use was many years before the symbol's (mis)appropriation by the German Nazi party in the 1930s. This edition, bound in brick red cloth with gold lettering on spine, is complete but reflects over 100 years of use, and is in very good to fine condition. This hardcover book is a must-have for collectors of literature in general and Kipling, specifically.
