Description: This is an official United States Postal Service (USPS) publication No. 8816, the I HAVE A DREAM: A COLLECTION OF BLACK AMERICANS ON U.S. POSTAGE STAMPS. Written by Bill Halstead with an introduction by Alex Haley, this is a hardbound 8-3/4" by 11-1/8" book of 68 pages featuring 28 different black Americans featured on U.S. postage stamps. Each individual is given a chapter with a beautiful portrait painting and then a text description of their contributions to society and why they were featured on a stamp. Included within the book is a small package, STILL SEALED, that contains the 28 featured stamps and mounts in which to store or mount the stamps to retain their mint never hinged condition. Everything is in Very Fine to Near Mint condition with no scuffs or dirt. The stamps are from different US series: Black Heritage, Famous Americans, etc. but all are genuine Mint Never Hinged United States stamps as issued. A very neat beginning to a wonderful topical collection. A great book, both for educational purposes, and to get youngsters interested in collecting stamps with subjects that matter to American culture and history. Item shown is one you will receive. From a non-smoking environment. I will combine shipping if multiple lots of mine are acquired.
