The Rockwell hardness of the blade along its edge is 54. Overall length of this knife is 7.5" and the length of the blade is 3.5". The handle is made of Bovine BONE and is complimented with Brass pins. The spine of the blade has jimping. Jimping is the name given to the grooves that are cut into the back, or unsharpened half of the blade of a knife. At first blush the reason for jimping seems obvious and clear cut (pardon the pun). it’ll help you to grip the knife better when your thumb rests on the back of the blade and will give you better control.D2 Tool Steel is a versatile high-carbon, high-chromium, air-hardening tool steel that is characterized by a relatively high attainable hardness and numerous, large, chromium-rich alloy carbides in the microstructure. The steel is a favorite among knife collectors, applauded for its good wear resistance and strength, while offering some resistance to corrosion. D2 does make a great knife material, it is well known as a blade sharp edge steel and can be hardened to HRC60-62 safely.
