Description: Purchased about 2 decades ago from collector Danny Patric, if I recall correctly. Info from Hardy & Hardy Investigations, by Tony Carpentieri and Paul Mular, 5th Edition: #1 Tower Treasure 1942 B-23 #2 House on a Cliff 1943 B-24 #3 Secret of the Old Mill 1943 B-25 (might be A-25 in later guides; DP had this labeled as A-25; first “poor paper” edition (WTC)) #4 Missing Chums 1943 B-23 #5 Hunting for Hidden Gold 1943 B-24 #6 Shore Road Mystery 1942 C-27 #7 Secret of the Caves 1943 B-20 #8 Cabin Island 1943 A-22 “…back to poor paper”, hence the A in A-22 #9 Great Airport Mystery 1943 B-20 #10 What Happened at Midnight 1941 B-19 (“1st art” example in the Yellow Spine style) #11 While the Clock Ticked End paper inscription is a lightly pencilled check on #11 “To Philip from Jim..” inscription inside title page (not end paper) #11 Pricing inscription inside title page (not end paper) #11 “H3 “ and “.50” crossed out and “.60” on #10 on inside back page, not end paper. White stain - maybe light mildew - on back board of #10. Brown stain spots as seen in photo on closed paper edges on #10 Many are like-new inside but with shelf wear and signs of bumping along the edges. Most of these Hardy Boys series WTC War Time Conservation books, which used an early example of recycled paper that often did not age well, have well-preserved pages, still have the new book smell and you can tell how protected most of the front and back boards and endpapers were by dust jackets, despite shelf bumping and wear along edges.
