Description: Fine important and rare antique 18th century sterling silver double-ended marrow scoop made in 1746-1747 in London and fully hallmarked. It is in fine condition with no damage or repairs and little wear from age or use. Hallmarks: The crowned leopard is clear, the lion passant is squished so you can't make it out, the date letter is squished but clear, and the maker's mark takes a little effort, but with some research we can be certain that the maker is Elias Cachart, the famous French Huguenot. The second letter of his mark is not visible but the first, an E in script, is very clear. He was the foremost maker of spoons in the 18th century. Identifying family crest:A pair of upright wings on a branch with what looks like a bowl of flames between the wings but not sure of the latter or of what family this crest belongs to.
