Bang ! G-A-Y Club badge - Unused MINT from 80s LGBTQ FREE UK TRACKED ROYAL MAIL

Description: This badge is part of the history of the LGBTQ scene in the UK. I discovered it tucked away in a tiny plastic case while having a clearout of my old family home.It had been there since the 80s and it has never been worn. The condition of the front is perfect, no marks, dents, scratches etc. The pin on the back has understandably aged a fair bit.I think it was given to me around Christmas of 88 [and with the smiley face, that would make sense.......the Oct/ Nov would make sense too] although it couldve been Spring 89. Because of that very period, my memory isnt what it could be ;] ;] ;]Bang ! was the name of a popular gay disco that started in 1976 in London, it was one of the only gay discos in the city at the time. It was held in the Sundown club [in the basement of the London Astoria, subsequently called LA2, and since demolished] as a Monday night event called Bang ! Bang ! later became Funboat, and later still it became known as the now legendary G-A-Y nightclub.
