Court Kings 5 x 7 #25 George Gervin PRODUCTION TRANSPARENCY and CARD This listing includes an example of the card, AND, the Production Transparency used to make the card! This listing includes the individual card and transparency noted above. Other's will be available in separate eBay listings. Likely the most significant "find" in the 35+ years since Star Co. Basketball Cards were introduced into the hobby, the Production Transparency in this listing (and other's I'm running on eBay) were purchased directly from Star Co. by my consignor. I was aware of the transaction when it occurred in 1996, and, have patiently waited all these years to get a chance to be involved in their sale to the hobby market. These Production Transparencies were part of the manufacturing / production process of the Star Co. Basketball Cards. Photography experts tell me the proper term for this item is "production transparency". Terms sometimes used include: Negatives, Slides, and Chromes. Knowledge of Production Transparencies and similar production related pieces is limited. I would refer interested collector's to the August, 2018, Sports Market Report (SMR), where an extensive article on original photos used for sports cards discusses similar subject matter. Also, I was interviewed at the JordanCards and AllVintageCards sites. You can read the interview about these Production Transparencies there. I have been asked about what kind of proof I have these are the original Star Co. Production Transparencies..... First, I was made of aware of this transaction within days of when it took place back in 1996. Second, I am in possession of a copy of the contract between the Star Company owner and my consignor. The contract is on the Letterhead of my consignor's Law Firm, and, it notes the inclusion of "artwork and chromes" for each card. I am also in possession of hundreds of canceled checks and dealer order forms from the office of Star Co. Further, I am in possession of the shipping box and Fed Ex labels for the transfer of this Star Co. material from Star Co. to my consignor. This collection of Star Co. Production Transparencies represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of Star Co. Basketball History. I will be listing many of these Transparencies on eBay over the coming weeks / months. There's close to 500 different Transparencies available including the big names like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, etc..... Plus many other stars and regional interest players. Please Note: My amateur photographer skills are working here. I had to use a back-light to show the Production Transparency, and, this created shadow effects with the "card" example. Thus, some photos are not top quality. I tried to get a good photo for the most important part of this listing, the Production Transparency.
