1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Rotisserie Restored w/ Original Drivetrain

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1968 Chevelle SS with its numbers matching drive train – not just period correct but the original “born with” engine, transmission and differential. The engine VIN deck stamping does match the car. Check the photo of the rolling completed chassis with all those original components and not a Frankenstein version that most Chevelles are that are compromised of scrap yard parts. We have many photos of before during and after the extensive restoration. This Chevelle had been sitting for approximately 35 years in a conditioned building in the North Carolina mountains.. This Chevelle was 100% unmolested. It still had the original GM under chassis paint without rust. The car had its original AM radio which we replaced with a modern but vintage appearing version. I do have many photos of the original car before and during the complete nut and bolt restoration. It is a 55 year old antique car and I did not want to alter that with the introduction of modern parts with the attempt to preserve it in as built condition. If you want a “resto-mod” or a LS engine then this is not the car for you. The Chevelle SS is showing 98000 miles on the odometer and I cannot state if that is original mileage. The car now rests in a climate controlled garage. The Chevelle SS was “born” with the following factory options: Power Brakes Power Steering Deluxe interior Vinyl top 396 Big block engine TH400 Auto transmission Seat Belts Center Console Super Sport Package INTERIOR: All components replaced or restored as or better than new. Correct gauge cluster. Original seat frames. New OEM style carpets. EXTERIOR: The car received new Island Teal paint which was its original color with a new OEM thickness black vinyl top as original. Paint was upgraded to base coat with 3 coats of clear and color sanded to a mirror finish. Drivetrain and Chassis: This cars undercarriage is just as clean as the body, Frame was fully blasted and painted with genuine GM restoration paint. The Big block 396 engine was rebuilt as new. The block was in incredible condition and still utilizes its original pistons and other internal components.The cam and lifters were changed to Melling with a slight higher lift to provide a more full sound and extra power. The 396 provides in excess of 350 hp. The distributor was internally updated to a pertronix points conversion but externally still appears as factory from 1968. The TH400 transmission was fully rebuilt and the differential only required gaskets and seals as all internal parts were in great condition. Car has Pypes “X” stainless steel exhaust system. The power steering pump was rebuilt so is original to the car. All brakes and steering were replaced or rebuilt. The original 14 inch wheels were replaced with 15 inch rally wheels with stainless steel center caps and BF Goodrich tires.
